Cowen is my mother's maiden name

Be sure to visit my Aunt Becky's websites for TONS of information on this lineage.  They are: Bowie County Texas and the Cowan Pages.

Photo of Cowan's Ford, NC .  This was John Cowan's land, which passed on to his son Joseph Cowen (spelling changes back and forth in this line) - Becky

The photo shows a downriver view [South] of Cowan’s Ford taken in the fall of 2000 for a survey of the Cowan’s Ford Battleground for the “American Battlefield Protection” project.

The photo shows the upper end of the Island where one of the two fords crossed. The other ford crossed above the Island and was completely in the River. Looking downriver places the right side of the photo in Lincoln County and shows the place the British forces under Lord Cornwallis entered the River on 1 February 1781
